Sadly Olive died on October 1, 1947 at age 41. Three days later she was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. The Sunshine Mission, where she spent her final years, paid for her funeral. When Olive's mother Sibbie passed away twelve years later she was buried next to her. The cemetery has many famous residents including Carole Landis, Marie McDonald, George Burns, Clara Bow, Jimmy Stewart, and Michael Jackson. Two of Olive's favorite costars, Jack Oakie and Tom Mix, are also buried there. Forest Lawn is located at 1712 South Glendale Avenue. It is open every day from 8 AM until 5 PM. Olive's grave is plot L-1772 in the Liberty section. It is a few yards away from Marlborough Lane. The words "Beloved Daughter" are on her headstone. Forest Lawn is a beautiful and peaceful place. The cemetery has a reputation for being unfriendly but fans are welcome to visit Olive. I have been to her final resting place many times.
